All four of Humboldt’s skilled nursing facilities — Seaview, Granada, Eureka and Fortuna Rehabilitation and Wellness Centers — are owned by the same person, Shlomo Rechnitz, who operates close to 80 facilities across the state through his company Brius Healthcare and its subsidiaries.
In 2016, the North Coast Journal reported that Rechnitz’s Humboldt skilled nursing facilities paid nearly $5 million in related-party expenses for administrative fees and medical supplies to other companies Rechnitz owned, according to financial reports submitted to the state.
It is nice to see other local journalists spotlight corruption like this. Unfortunately, no good deed is left unpunished in Humboldt these days, and Linda Stansberry seems to be experiencing this firsthand. Instead of this article and its author receiving praise for the content and the depth of research, it is instead being used as a woke prop for the publication itself to claim false accountability while simultaneously virtue signaling simply for kowtowing to a woke left narrative.
Locals Triggered by “Anti Jewish” Image / Antisemitism Cartoon
The entire fake controversy circles around the image (above) they use for the article in question. In a subsequent article published by the North Coast Journal, titled, “Accountable,” authors JENNIFER FUMIKO CAHILL, THADEUS GREENSON, and KIMBERLY WEAR hold hands and write a total of 7 paragraphs, a total of 746 words, equating to roughly 249 words each. Comparing this herculean authoring to Stansberry’s in her article “Pain For profit,” with 6,431 total words, it makes one wonder if the former three authors are each paid a 3rd of Stansberry’s salary.
We ran a cartoon depicting Shlomo Rechnitz with a laundry list of his specific offenses as owner of Brius Healthcare, the skilled nursing corporation through which he has funneled tens of millions of dollars to other companies he owns, while providing patients with substandard care.
Specifically, the cartoon points out that, amid a time period when Rechnitz was redirecting $31 million from his four Humboldt County facilities to his other companies (“Profit and Pain,” Nov. 17), state inspectors found his local facilities were grossly understaffed, resulting in everything from residents going weeks without a bath to developing pressure sores because staff couldn’t keep up with their care regimen. The cartoon was aimed at pointing out the man responsible for their suffering.
Multiple Readers Complain to NJC regarding Antisemitism in Cartoon
I appreciate them laying down the foundation here. The Cartoon itself lacked anything notable. It is very well done and on target with the article’s message. However, the three amigos follow this targeted recap of their colleague’s article with absolute nonsense.
But readers have reached out to tell us the image reminded them of (antisemitism) anti-Semitic propaganda from Nazi Germany and elsewhere, in which artists caricatured the physical features and dress of Jewish men to spread hateful tropes.
These tropes were part of a propaganda effort to scapegoat and dehumanize Jewish people, justifying their mistreatment. Readers shared their concern that the Journal — at a time when antisemitism is surging according to a number of organizations that track it — was promoting similarly awful ideas.
We apologize to all those who felt that shock of recognition looking at the cartoon, particularly in a climate where antisemitism has once again been on parade.
The idea that a single reader out there took issue with an image published by North Coast Journal enough to reach out and complain of antisemitism, or the idea there were two or more “readers” who “reached out to tell us the image reminded them of (antisemitism) anti-Semitic propaganda from Nazi Germany,” is incredibly difficult to believe.
Humboldt is so woke they are attacking their own leftist cult members.
Whatever the case may be, one has to be incredibly creative to imagine antisemitism in the image used or the article itself. Indeed, it seems to this author the only folks who would be so keen to draw conclusions like these would they themselves be Nazi Propaganda Buffs. Perhaps former Israeli Minister, Shulamit Aloni, has some insight she can share from her esteemed position of both insider knowledge and the machinations of the elite.
Democracy Now – Israeli Minister, Shulamit Aloni: Antisemitism, a Jews Trick
We always use it when from Europe, somebody is criticizing Israel. Then we bring up the Holocaust. When in this country, people are criticizing Israel, then there are anti Semitic and organization is strong and has a lot of money.
And the the ties between Israel and the American Jewish establishment are very strong, and they are strong in this country, as you know.
And they have power, which is OK, the talented people, and they have power of money and media and other things. And their attitudes is where my country right or wrong, the identification.
And they are not ready to hear criticism.
And it’s very easy to blame people who criticize certain acts of the Israeli government as Anti Semitics and to bring up the Holocaust and the suffering of the Jewish people.
And that. And that’s, that is justify everything we do to the Palestinians
Democracy Now – Israeli Minister, Shulamit Aloni: Antisemitism, a Jews Trick
After hearing her lay it down so clearly, it seems as though this is precisely what is playing out here. An article is written critically of a Jewish man who is clearly neck-deep in corruption. The article in question is written so well and extensively researched that the false attack of antisemitism can not be leveled at the content itself.
Alfred Hitchcock-esque – or – Antisemitism?
Alas, what must have come to the mind of these alleged readers – seeking to leverage the North Coast Journal in a bolt of what must have seemed like good luck – was the recognition that the silhouetted Jewish man in the cartoon is Shlomo Rechnitz. Because this silhouette shows distinct characteristics commonly expressed by those of Jewish descent, the image is targeted as a flimsy basis for claims of antisemitism.
Think of what we just heard the former Priminister of Isreal say in her own words, the use of antisemitism like this is just a trick to fight against criticism and decent against Jews. Indeed the cartoon in question looks more like a mid-century Alfred Hitchcock painting, especially the use of birds which was partial to the name of one of his most iconic pieces.
Situations like this make me imagine the most incredible scenarios. Like, what if Adolf Hitler, as it turns out, never really died and resurfaced at an ANTI-RACISM event that was held to end racism once and for all? Can you imagine him coming down in a UFO only to explain he has given up racism and antisemitism entirely and has now become a full fledge supporter of multiculturalism?
Adolf Hitler back from the dead, vows to end racism, end antisemitism.
A more exciting way to think of this is Critical Jewish Theory. Similar to how woke leftists have used this tool of historic Marxism to confuse folks and bring about the changes to society they wish to manifest, we, too, can be critical of the Jews in the same way. What explicitly prevents them from the sharp cut of criticism anyway?
They are not the only historical group to suffer genocide. Most don’t even know about the Holodomor, which is remarkable considering all of the recent fanfare over Ukraine.
CJT: Critical Jewish Theory says the past is not what it seems
Maybe the woke left mob in Humboldt County needs to revisit some of the videos here and check their triggers. They might find there is much more than meets the eye to what they currently hold as preconceived notions. Listen to this Rabbi explain history for you and think of the context.
JFK, Famous Democrat President, was fond of Adolf Hitler
And we all remember what happened to him. At this point, you are likely wondering how the heck I can take a flimsy apology article by the North Coast Journal and go so deep with it. I want to illustrate that antisemitism is not at all what it is claimed to be. I want to demonstrate how Antisemitism is really just a phrase like “Racist,” “Misogynist,” “Fascist,” and “Conspiracy Theorist,” which are used to discredit the claims of a critic outright.
Furthermore, these are used to cancel all together and outright destroy the lives of folks who dare to question the “American Jewish establishment,” as the former Priminister of Isreal coined in the interview shown earlier.
I’ll leave you with the following videos to ponder. Please leave your comments in the comments section below, I’d love to hear your take on all of this.
