Local Press Secretary and Department Positions
In addition to this, the press briefings would provide a direct channel for the community to better comprehend the many things Supervisors and Council people contemplate and decide without having to invest hours of their time wading through meetings that are typically lacking any stimulus action.
Humboldt citizens, and the rest of the world, could tune into this briefings and have efficient breakdowns of what’s taken place, what is pending, and what is on the future docket. Then, through subsequent questions, which typically parallel what the community response to the information would be, a clear message is received by both the citizens, and the press secretary who can take questions back through their channels for subsequent briefings.
We are proposing a department be created with a single liaison for, in this particular example, each board of supervisor. This position will be to collect information, ask questions, and develop a briefing from that Supervisor / Chairperson / Council member. Each liaison would bring their information and together create the final draft briefing with the secretary who will deliver it and respond to press inquiries.

If you are an elected representative you can accompany the press secretary at these briefings to provide deeper value and connection, as well as an opportunity for more exposure to your overall message.
If you are a journalist this opens an opportunity for you to poll your audience for questions to ask on their behalf. After each briefing you can give your take on the entire event and poll your audience again for follow up questions. The effect will be profoundly different from the current protocols and opportunity and add immeasurable value for all parties involved.
If you are a patriot of free speech and freedom of the press and you believe our current form of representative government could be improved with the ideas herein, please sign this petition and share it with everyone you know.
