Do you want unity?
There’s an awful lot of talk about unity but we rarely see efforts to bring us together. The media is always demonizing one side and victimizing the other. We are constantly shown division… with all talk and no action when it comes to unity.
Last Sunday the pastor preached about unity – about how before the end we will all come together. I thought about this over the last week and have made a decision: I’m going to love my perceived enemies.
I have given them the glory that you gave me, that they may be one as we are one. I in them and you in me—so that they may be brought to complete unity. Then the world will know that you sent me and have loved them even as you have loved me.John 17:22-23 NIV
Unity Through Christ’s Love
Look, we are never going to agree on everything, but we can have peace. Peace will come when we all start loving each other. I’ve said this before; I don’t hate anyone I disagree with, and neither do you. Did Jesus cast out the Pagans? No, he sat with them, he talked to them, he corrected them respectfully, and he loved them into salvation. Always with the belt of truth securely fastened around his waist. That’s exactly what we need to do.
When we see that confused man in a dress, lets do our best not to judge. Let’s try to consider what he’s been through to be so confused – so lost – someone or something taught him that he wasn’t perfect the way he was made. Parents, we can correct this kind of thinking into the future.
Let’s do our best to raise our children to love themselves for who they are. Reestablish and reaffirm a sense of joy in their individuality and bring them up to see the best in themselves and the people around them at all times.
Perversion, hate, and division are all taught and learned. Putting people into categories- straight, gay, black, white, brown, rich, poor, liberal, conservative, libtard, MAGAt… etc… is literally dividing us. Depending on what you’ve been taught – you will start to see some of these people as less than yourself. Is that how God sees us? No!
No one has ever seen God; but if we love one another, God lives in us and his love is made complete in us.1 John 4:12 NIV
It Will Take All of Us to Achieve Unity
God loves us ALL beyond our capacity to even begin to understand. We are ALL made in the image of God. Christ died on the cross for ALL of our sins.
I am imperfect and am absolutely guilty of be divisive, and so are you. To everyone I’ve dismissed or dehumanized, I’m truly sorry, from the bottom of my heart. To those who may be offended by my words, please reach out to me – I want to understand why you are offended.
Together we can change the world simply by choosing to move forward to understand each other, support each other and more than anything else, love each other.
Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God.Matthew 5:9 KJV
