Violence & Media
A recent Lost Coast Outpost article highlighted a comment Lost Coast Populist received on its petition to end drag shows for kids in Humboldt County. Even the team at Lost Coast Outpost was able to determine that the comment was likely from a troll trying to make the local group of concerned parents out to be an actual hate group. An unrealistic concept that has been pushed by local political figures in favor of drag shows for young children, as well as politically aligned local media including, but not limited to, Lost Coast Outpost.
Lost Coast Populist is currently a small but mighty team of working class individuals, so things like filtering our comment section doesn’t always occur overnight during a weekend. The words in the comment were hateful and insinuated acts of violence, something that Lost Coast Populist team members have never done and will never endorse.
Luckily, they were just words, in digital format – deleted with the click of a button. While showing so much concern over mere words, many national media outlets fail to report actual violence when it is politically inconvenient for the narrative they strive to maintain. Below are some examples of double standards in the media, how many of these has Lost Coast Outpost even reported on?
Recent Trans acts of Violence

The recent Tennessee school shooting and other transgender acts of violence have prompted many to question why these episodes are being excused by woke politicians and media. It seems that the political correctness and woke culture is being used as an excuse to ignore the real issue of violence perpetrated by trans people. This is a concerning trend that needs to be addressed, any mass shooting is unacceptable, and nobody should be validated or justified for such heinous crimes.
“In less than five years, we’ve had four people who identify as transsexual committing a mass shooting.
In November of 2018, Snochia Moseley, a man who identified as a woman, wounded three and killed three after opening fire at his place of employment in Aberdeen, Maryland.
In May of 2019, a Colorado woman who identified as male shot up a school, killing one and wounding eight.
In November of 2022, a Colorado man who shot up a gay nightclub, killing five and wounding 18, was identified as transsexual.
On Monday, 28-year-old Audrey Elizabeth Hale, a woman who identified as a man, entered a Nashville Christian elementary school with a firearm. She murdered three adult staffers and three nine-year-old children.”
There have been several high-profile cases of transgender violence in just this past year, one recent instance was the hostage situation at San Francisco State University in 2023. In this case the school sided with the trans activists against swimming champion Riley Gaines, who was reportedly assaulted by a man in a dress and mobbed by verbally abusive protesters after giving a speech at San Francisco State University.
These episodes demonstrate that transgender acts of violence are not being taken seriously enough by those in power, or by those responsible for reporting on them. We need to ensure that all forms of violence are treated with the same gravity, regardless of who is involved.
BLM Mostly Peaceful??

The Black Lives Matter protests that took place in 2020 were much more violent than the January 6th Capitol Hill riots, boasting $1 billion-plus in riot damage, the most expensive in insurance history. While some Democrat politicians have tried to normalize violence when it is politically convenient, it is important to note that this type of behavior should not be tolerated.

The BLM protests were marked by widespread looting and destruction of property, as well as physical attacks on police officers and other members of law enforcement. This level of violence was far greater than the January 6th Capitol Hill riots, which largely consisted of verbal confrontations between protesters and police. Yet left wing politicians, media personalities and celebrities alike raised money to bail out violent BLM protesters who were arrested. A sharp contrast to the treatment of the J6 political prisoners still languishing in a DC cell without even the luxury of a speedy trial.
It is essential that we hold all individuals accountable for their actions regardless of political affiliation or ideology. We must ensure that violence is never normalized, especially when it is politically advantageous. We must end the blatant double standards plaguing our legal system and media, we must free the people being held on trumped up charges from one of the largest actual peaceful protests of all time. Has the Lost Coast Outpost mentioned these double standards plaguing our legal system?
MAGA VIOLENCE NOTHING BURGERS

In recent years, left-wing media outlets have been accused of crying wolf over unsubstantiated reports of far-right extremist violence, these accusations have been well founded. Reports have been sensationalized, exaggerated, and even flat out fabricated. Most of the media claims I can remember involved some alleged Intelligence Report, some unconfirmed anonymous source that had the goods on the alleged MAGA extremism just around the corner. And then nothing happens, if a specific date or event is given it seems like an obvious reuse to draw people into a situation that can be manipulated by Deep State assets.
Situations such as the Gretchen Whitmer kidnapping scenario, which turned out to be FBI assets involved in the concepts and planning, laying grounds for the jury in the case to consider possible entrapment.
“It’s the government moving all of it,” Fox’s lawyer, Christopher Gibbons, said of the plot.
Attorney Joshua Blanchard called Croft’s remarks about hanging governors and resorting to violence “crazy talk” from a “stoned pirate” — referring to his client’s marijuana use and three-cornered hat — rather than a plan to attack Whitmer.
“I am ashamed of the behavior of the leading law enforcement agency in the United States,” Blanchard said.
It is important to recognize that not all reports of extremist violence are true or accurate, it is essential that we take a closer look at these claims before jumping to conclusions. Some of these claims turn out to be “nothing burgers,” with more FBI informants responsible for actions taken than concerned, patriotic citizens. As seen with Ray Epps of J6 infamy – the only person on camera directing people to go into the capitol – also one of the only people zealously instructing people to enter the Capitol. Disregarding the synchronized media propaganda can help us better understand the reality of the situation and respond in an appropriate manner. Has Lost Coast Outpost even mentioned the FBI informants present at the January 6th protest?
Antifa and Crickets From the Left

All this, while (for at least two years) many people on the left side of the aisle would not even recognize that Antifa is a real organization, stating that it is only an idea. It is a big problem when media groups take this approach: putting out material about alleged threats which almost never manifest while refusing to report on actual violence occurring. Luckily, a brave MAGA Patriot infiltrated antifa in Sonoma County. Some of the undercover comments he captured are both disturbing and astonishing.
In an exclusive report by ABC7, the Republican infiltrator provided a “target list” and recordings of the group’s planning sessions, which may be connected to recent acts of vandalism – including an incident at the former home of a defense witness in the Derek Chauvin trial.
Group leader: “It’s May Day, baby, like come out and take, take somethin’ over with us, I don’t, I don’t (bleep)-ing know.”
Member: “Let’s kill people. (laughs)”
Group Leader: “Let’s kill some cops.”
Member: “Yeah.”
National legacy media failed to report on Antifa while sensationalizing January 6th, attempting to alter the national perception of reality. Working in concert with social media they also silenced any opposing discussion on the issue, to the best of their ability anyways.
“To gaslight someone means to manipulate another person into doubting their own perceptions, experiences or understanding of events,” according to the American Psychological Association.
If we stick to the clinical definition, gas-lighters have two signature moves: They lie with the intent of creating a false reality, and they cut off their victims socially.”
If you Google Lost Coast Outpost / Right-Wing Extremism and compare it with the search for Lost Coast Outpost / Antifa it is easy to see how differently groups of differing political ideology are treated. An example of gaslighting at the local level with a local Media Group attempting to manipulate the public into doubting their own perception and understanding of events.
Looking at the clinical definition of gaslighting, Lost Coast Outpost completes the two signature moves through sensationalist reporting and under reporting, they attempt to create a false reality. Then, by silencing opposing opinions in their comment sections, they attempt to cut their victims off socially leaving them isolated with nowhere to voice their opinions or response.
It’s funny that the same people who want to ban gas stoves are such fans of gaslighting.
